RedesignLab.

Experimental redesigns of milesallen.site — exploring different design languages, animation approaches, and visual directions. Twenty experiments so far, newest first: a loud SICK AGENCY printed broadside, a 1976 punk zine, a Daily Bugle newspaper, retro intros, web cartoons, whimsical, loud/quiet, space stations, handhelds, and terminals.

History — all experiments, newest first
19
SICK BROADSIDE

The portfolio as a loud printed broadside on a brick wall — a maximalist zine spread in the SICK AGENCY system: three saturated full-bleed color bands (voltage yellow, radioactive orange, electric cobalt) stacked with zero gap and hard color cuts. Anton/Morganite condensed display at up to 229px with 0.70 line-height (type as a solid printed block), Thunder 300 subheads, Sentient body with negative tracking, circular sticker badges as CAT/CTA anchors (USUALLY ONLINE, TEXT US), pill-shaped buttons as the only softness, sharp 0px corners everywhere else, hairline black rules, and no shadows, gradients, or neutrals — only #000 and #fff.

18
MILESWOLF ZINE

The portfolio as a moving 1976 punk zine — photocopied, wheat-pasted, xerox-degraded. Rejects grid perfection: ransom-note typography (Permanent Marker, Bangers, Courier Prime, Graduate, Creepster), torn paper edges via clip-path, tape strips and safety pins, halftone dot screens, layered paper grain, SVG doodles (arrows, stars, NO symbols), protest-sign red/navy/neon green palette, jitter animations at variable frame rates, RGB-split glitch on hover, spray-paint custom cursor, cut-up skill chips, a manifesto panel, project collages, a TEAR-OFF flyer contact, and ransom letters that periodically reshuffle fonts. Includes a print stylesheet.

17
The Miles Bugle

The portfolio as a front page from Tobey-era Spider-Man: newsprint cream paper with grain and halftone dots, a Pirata One blackletter masthead, double red rules, a dateline with today's real date, a two-column front-page story with drop cap and EXTRA! EXTRA! stamp, an IN BRIEF box, a numbers scoreboard, a tongue-in-cheek SPIDER-MENACE? teaser, projects as front-page stories with page numbers, a classified-style toolkit table, and a want-ads contact section.

16
Retro Curl Intro

A retro-2000s “Curl Opener” direction inspired by the reference pin: deep blue space, glowing chrome ribbons, electric cyan and hot pink light trails, orbiting typography, scanlines, a star field, and an animated title lockup for MILES WOLF ALLEN. Includes an enter-site action, replay control, loading line, and Enter/R keyboard shortcuts.

15
Pinboard

A playful web-developer landing page inspired by the reference pin: cream canvas, oversized rounded typography, a hand-drawn browser window, CSS-built developer illustration at a laptop, floating sticky notes, pastel color blocks, pill-shaped controls, soft colored shadows, and an editorial portfolio beneath the hero. Full homepage content included with projects, skills, scoreboard, GitHub stats, devlog, and contact.

14
Whimsical

Maximalist whimsical — warm pastel palette (lavender, peach, mint, yellow, pink), Fraunces display serif + Nunito rounded body, floating gradient blobs with slow drift, rounded cards with colored shadow edges, bouncy spring hover on pill buttons, magnetic email button with mouse-follow, sparkle cursor trail, and a dark purple scoreboard with neon number reveals.

13
SOFT ⇄ LOUD

Modern simplistic maximalism — laid out in the soft/loud language of Expression Three. Sections alternate between cream-paper quiet and neon-loud as you scroll, tracked by a live VU meter. Anton display type, Instrument Serif italic accents, spring-animated tilted skill chips, project rows with ink-fill shine sweeps, scroll-driven loud mode with L-key toggle, and a sparkle mouse trail.

12
Expression Six

ORBITAL — the portfolio as a fly-through space station. Six content stations line a Z-axis corridor rendered in Three.js: scroll or drag to fly between them, mouse parallax steers, and every project card is raycast-clickable in 3D space. Neon wireframe geometry, star field, grid floor, station HUD with jump dots, idle snap-to-station, keyboard navigation, and a flatland fallback if WebGL is unavailable.

11
Expression Five

MILES LAND — the portfolio as a playable Game Boy. A full CSS handheld shell (D-pad, A/B, START/SELECT) drives a 160×144 four-shade DMG screen: boot splash, PRESS START title, menu navigation, dialogue-box about with typewriter text, projects as paginated level select, skills as RPG stat bars, and a save-point contact screen that copies the email to your clipboard. Keyboard or on-shell controls.

10
Expression Four

MILES_OS — the portfolio as an amber-phosphor terminal. BIOS boot sequence, a real working command prompt (help / skills / projects / open 4 / sudo hire-me), neofetch-style system panel with live session uptime, skill meters, clickable project table, CRT scanlines and flicker, WebAudio key blips, and three switchable phosphor themes via `theme green`.

09
Expression Three

Modern simplistic maximalism — the page fluctuates between Swiss-quiet and neon-loud sections as you scroll, tracked by a live SOFT⇄LOUD volume meter. Anime.js v4 engine, animate.css hover flourishes, and ReactBits-style vanilla components (SplitText, Blur Text, Count Up, Magnet, Glare Hover, Click Spark, Scramble). Master LOUD toggle or press L.

08
Expression One

Paper + ink philosophy from index-five, rebuilt as a vertical-scroll page powered by Anime.js. Staggered entrance animations, elastic tagline reveal, scroll-triggered project rows, D-E-V panels with elastic letter bounces, count-up stats, and a scroll progress bar.

08½
Expression Two

Navy editorial built on Inter Tight: a five-layer hero marquee stack, counter loader with progress bar, scroll progress rail, chip tags, and a WebGL-distorted about portrait. Includes a light/dark theme toggle.

07
Timeline

Single-page portfolio as a horizontal 2021→2026 timeline: paper + ink with a rainbow year rail, parallax years, sticky cards with live screenshots, drag / wheel / arrow navigation, and a type-driven marquee hero.

06
Cinematic Max

The award-quality editorial design of index-four — same loader, inertia scroll, pinned horizontal devlog, GSAP parallax — but rebuilt as full maximalism. Dark bg, neon palette, Archivo Black, hard box shadows, glitch on the hero title, neo-brutalist project rows that fill with yellow/pink/cyan on hover.

05
Cinematic Minimal

Warm parchment palette, Playfair Display serif, smooth wheel inertia, counter loader, custom morphing cursor, pinned horizontal devlog scroll, GSAP parallax on the hero, project rows with ink-fill hover wipe.

04
Maximus v3

Polished Maximus language with orbital hero rings, scroll progress bar, sticky chip nav, 4 marquee bands, GSAP project card choreography, count-up stats, and Konami confetti.

03
Deep Green Editorial

Dark green + beige palette, Anton display type, custom cursor with label, expand/collapse project rows, sticky nav that color-switches between sections, and a full-screen yellow contact footer.

02
Multi-Theme System

Three switchable themes — dark, light, and MAX — with a live clock, mouse coordinate tracker, SVG signature draw animation, ambient audio toggle, and scroll progress bar.

01 — First
Maximus OG

The original Maximus design language. Dark bg, neon palette, Archivo Black + Press Start 2P, hard box shadows, splash screen, cursor glow, GSAP scroll choreography, project card parallax, and Konami party mode.
